Today was the most beautiful day! And being that it was 75 degrees this morning the fam and I headed to meet some friends at the Deer Lake Apple Orchard in Buffalo. Unfortunately, out of a possible 10, I would only rate the orchard a 6. The petting zoo was a good touch, and the atmosphere of the store and grounds were well decorated, but everything was too expensive. For one single Honeycrisp apple it was $1.00. I think that's a lot considering there are so many there, and it's only 1 apple. Also, if you wanted to go to the pumpkin patch there was fee, or if you wanted to take a tractor ride out to the orchard it was 15.00. That included a bag of apples, but still! Finally my big bummer moment came when I started searching for the one and only thing I wanted...a caramel apple with nuts! They were all sold out from the weekend and were not going to make more til tomorrow. I was so bummed out.
Well, the kids had fun. We finished the morning off with a quick trip to the McDonald's play land. That was probably the highlight of the morning, besides being together as a family. Let me know if you find a good orchards for kids, I would love to check it out.
There is one in Delano called Fall Harvest Orchard. It is located five miles west of Delano on County Road 30. The website is www.fallharvestorchard.com. They are opened every single day until mid-October from 10 am until 6 pm and from mid-October until the end of the season from 10 am until 5 pm.
ReplyDeleteI just went last week with my homeschool co-op from my church. There is a cost to go on the tractor ride around the farm, but it is only $1.50. I do not remember the cost of the apples because I didn't buy any (I didn't plan very well because I had just purchased a bunch of apples at Aldi's).
Have a WONDERFUL day!
