Backed up

My poor baby Andrew is a really constipated. Brenton and I have been trying to assist the process along for the little guy, but it's not working. We've done everything the books and articles say to do and he is still miserable. Here are the steps out resources told us to try:
1. Press his legs up on his belly to help the reflex
2. Add Karo Syrup to his bottle
3. Prune juice
4. Warm bath
5. Belly massage
6. Rectal Thermometer (we used a Qtip)
7. Exercise
I think the only thing we didn't do was a supository, but maybe that's what they'll do at the Dr office. I have to take him to the Dr. today at 2:30 so they can help him. I feel so bad for him. He is too little to be in such pain. Hopefully the Dr. will help. (Andrew will kill me in 16 years for writing about this).

  1. How did the dr. go? Were they able to help him out? That sounds so sad! Yes he probably will kill you some day but it is fun for us moms to read about :)

I just watched my mom give Adelyn her first rectal temp yesterday (it was normal). I haven't been able to get myself to do that yet. I was so shocked to learn it doesn't just rest between the cheeks! Yikes!

  2. He is doing a little better. The poor Dr. had to dig some out while we were there, I felt bad for her. We are adding some juice to his bottle and she gave me a prescription for a stool softener. It will take a few days but he will recover. Thanks for asking.

  3. Did you start Andrew on solids already? Hope he feels better soon - that's no fun for either of you.

  4. No, I haven't started solids yet. The Dr thinks he got dehydrated when he had the stomach bug and this is a result of that, so we need to increase the fluids
