On Saturday I went to my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. When I was leaving my dad gave me $20.00 for gas (got to love dad's). I was pumped because I had a full tank of gas. I was thinking ahead to Sunday, thinking the family could get something to eat after church. Then the spirit hit me, this is the battle that I had in my head...
"You should give that money as an offering"
I don't want to give it, it was from my dad, I want to get some lunch after church.
"You know God will bless you more"
I really really don't want to give it
"Trust me"
Then pouting, knowing what the right thing to do was, I gave the money. Then after church I had to run to the store and get some chips for Brenton and the kids. They were on sale 2 for $4.44- At first I thought, yes what a deal, thanks God. BUT that was not it. Later in the early evening a friend wanted to come over and ask us about how we liked our Vonage. Before she left she said, "Oh, I have something for you guys. Do you like eating out?" We enthusiastically replied yes. Then she gave us a $25.00 gift card for either The Olive Garden or Red Lobster (two of my favorite places).
I had to laugh at how God blesses our obedience. Here I wanted to use the $20.00 my dad gave me to go out to eat but instead I obeyed and gave it to the church, then He turned around and blessed us with more to go out to eat! Thanks God!
Isn't it awesome how He works that way? I'm seeing it more and more. Like your posts..will be back!
