Smaller jeans update

I have become lax about keeping myself accountable by being honest about how the weight loss is going. I am still working at it. I had a few weak days around my birthday, and I have slacked some since then, but I am fully on board to keep it going. We haven't gone to the grocery store for a while (I mean a real serious grocery stop) so we are out of fruit which I am missing the most right now. I find myself replacing chips or crackers for when I would usually eat a banana, apple or orange. So, I am officially down 25 pounds! Isabelle is 25 lbs so when I pick her up, I think about how I carried this much weight on myself before- it's amazing to think that I was able to walk. I have continued to work out, but definitely not as much. I will be hitting the treadmill and weights tonight. I look forward to walking outside and running after the kids when it's summer. I sometimes get discouraged about all the weight I still have to go (35 lbs), it seems like it will take forever or maybe never happen, then I have to remind myself of how far I have come and that it tool 3 years to add the weight so it could take 3 to lose it as well.

I was shocked yesterday when I was watching the Today show that the average woman in America is 5'4" 165 lbs and size 14. Does that seem accurate to anyone? I hope to not be in the average. Here is what my goals are 5'5" 147lbs size 8-10. Is this a pipe dream? Should I be more realistic? Am I am just kidding myself or setting myself up for failure?

  1. Actually, that average is pretty realistic. A few years ago I did a research paper on the way women view themselves in the US vs. the rest of the world (very interesting by the way) and at that time the average jean size (depending on height) was 10-14. But if you think about it - that makes sense. When you go shopping which sizes sell out first? Not the 2's or 4's that's for sure.

As far as your personal goals - you've lost 25lbs. That's amazing! you are only 5 lbs away from your half way mark. That's a pretty impressive accomplishment. Focus on what you have accomplished, not what you have left.

  2. Stephanie---it's definitley not a pipe dream. You can do it. My dad has lost almost 100 pounds doing Weight Watchers and my mom has lost about 25 (she is only 4'11" so 25 pounds really is HUGE for her). They are my inspiration..I lose it and then put it right back on. Keep on Keeepin on. =)
