It's been ONE year ago today that I decided to be the fat chic no more! I decided to focus more on myself so that I could focus more on the kids for the long run. It has been a journey. I can't say that I have reached my final goal of 60 lbs., but I have reached 46lbs. People often ask how I did it, and I have to say they it was a combination of several changes. First, it took prayer. Including God in this journey was incredibly helpful because I believe He would help me turn my focus away from the cookies and remind me of my goal- smaller jeans. Then, it took me fully saying publicly and feeling embarrassed about the condition I have allowed myself to get into. I also started reading Bob Greene's book, The Best Life Diet. The book was huge for me, especially in the beginning so that I could stay focused, get through the tough spots, and find out "why" I was eating so much. And using the phases of that book, I got moving. I think the biggest and best change, was my activity level. We had a health club membership, and I would try to find other physical activities to do in addition to a cardio or weights workout. I found washing the floor or mowing my parents lawn or chasing the kids around outside rather than sit and watch them play.
I have slacked the past couple weeks, but I am confident that I will get back on track. The holidays are so stinking difficult. I really need to get a health club membership or invest in a treadmill (my personal choice for cardio). This next year will need to be the year of altering my diet. I haven't spent much time changing what I eat, it's been more of how much I eat. I have been spending more time on just being more active. This is in alignment with the book and being in phase 2.
After making it this far, it has given me the confidence to take on more challenges or taking that first step of faith. Obviously, this has been good for me, but I hope that inspires someone else especially my kids. Thank you to all of you who have walked this journey with me. Thank you for your encouragement, compliments, support with watching the kids so I could work out, and many more. This was only possible with the people around me.
Awesome job Steph! I'm proud of you :) Miss ya,

Steph, we are in the middle of doing stuff around the house and trying to clean out things we really aren't using. I don't know if you have any interest in it or not, but we have a treadmill. It's not the fanciest, state of the art, but it works and is in good condition. If you think you want it you can have it, the only caveat would be I would need you all to pick it up as I really don't have any way to haul it. If you are interested let me know.
