I love the police, and not just because my brother-in-law is a police officer (although he is great)! These are individuals that put their lives on the the line everyday just for our safety. They work crazy hours, deal with rediculously crazy people, and do their best to enforce the laws our government has established. BUT I have really come to love the authority they hold over my children. That sounds bad, but what I mean is, any time we see an officer whether it's walking in a mall, sitting in a restaurant or driving their cars, my kids pull it together! They even remind me every time I leave the house to not get caught by any police, to wear my seat belt and not drive too fast.Today after a fabulous morning of thrift shopping (50% off President's day Sale) we grabbed some lunch at none other than Chipotle. As I was a little apprehensive to go in with the 3 hungry and tired children, I noticed a police car parked in the parking lot. I didn't say anything, but Jacob noticed the car immediately. Once we had gotten our food and found a seat (right next to the police) Isabelle and Jacob were talking in quiet voice, sitting politely and waiting for me to dish them up, eating, and being kind. I wasn't complaining one bit, but I was think, what's up with them? I was so happy with their behavior I complimented them on it. Then I discovered the reason-
Me: Jacob and Izzy you are sitting and eating so well, I am so proud of your behavior!
Jacob: That's because there are police right there mama.
Izzy: (Interrupting) Yea, and we don't want to go to jail, so we are being good, right Jake?
Jacob: Yea and we don't want to get a ticket
Me: You're right, I better eat my food too.
And with that said, we had a quiet, quick and peaceful lunch. The kids never said anything to the police, nor did the police even notice we were there, but I should have left them a tip for serving even when they didn't know it! It's my goal to try and always find a restaurant to eat at where police are also eating. Or maybe I should just get a uniform and dress up as a police officer everyday....
funny! so cute! did you find any good deals thrifting?
ReplyDeleteI love this story. That is just too funny. Too bad Brenton isn't a police officer huh! I suppose it would lose some of the luster then though. We had a good time with you on Tuesday! I will email the photo as soon as I download it on to the computer.
