Stunned

I didn't know what to do. This afternoon I had to run to the grocery store to get some last minute items for our dinner guests. As I was giving the kids the speech about good behavior the car felt like it had been bumped from the side. As I looked out the door window, I noticed a woman loading her groceries into her car and the wind blew her SUVs door unto mine. I was a little stunned, wondering if I should say something or not, for I was sure there was going to be a door ding. She finished loading her groceries, and tried to close her door. It was jammed on my van door. She pulled a little harder and it freed- I noticed her look at my car and then we locked eyes. She quickly got in her car and drove away. I didn't know what to do- I was stunned. I noticed there was still a dealers label on the window, so I don't know if she even owned the vehicle.
Well as I suspected, there is a scratch and dent in the side door. There really isn't anything I can do now, but what should I have done...gotten out...gotten her insurance...had her pay for it? I really don't know, what would you do?

  1. the driver is ALWAYS suppose to be in complete control of their car. If they did that to you...legally it's their fault and they pay.

That's really crappy that she duck and ran.

  2. that's a tough one! It's hard that you locked eyes, cause she knows you knew what happened, and then she just left. Shady! I would have thought that since you were in the car and you guys saw each other, she would at least start a conversation about it. What did you tell the kids?

Steph, we missed you today!!! hope you're all feeling better!

  3. What a bummer. I think I would've frozen and not known what to do in that situation, too.

Hopefully the damage won't be too costly.
