I knew there had to be a reason for not remembering the majority of Isabelle's first year of life. Sadly, I remember the times of her colic little body having fits, but with a 15 month old and a newborn, it all seems like a blur. I hate to admit that I have made several of the mistakes of forgetting that the article talks about (buckling the child into the car seat, putting the milk in the cabinet, I even got out of the shower once and left the water running), but there is a reason- Momnesia- the mental fuzziness and memory lapses that set in shortly after childbirth. I always just thought I was losing my mind, I guess in reality, I really was.
But women don't get dumber after childbirth. Instead, like sleep-deprived medical residents who learn on the job, their brains are getting a workout. "You are learning a lot," she says. "Once your mommy brain gets readjusted, you get more efficient, and you become smarter and learn things faster, but it won't happen all at once."
Momnesia is real, and I am sure every mom has experienced some form of it. I think with in the last 6 months is the first time in 3 years that I felt like I was coming out of it. Read the article here.

I'm convinced that with every child I gave birth to I lost a portion of my brain. I don't think it's ever coming back!
