Big changes ahead

I had to keep quiet for the day until the word got through the district, but YES, I did get the teaching job in Northfield!!!! It comes with so many mixed emotions. I didn't know if I wanted to cry because I will have less time with my children everyday or dance with celebration because this is a great opportunity as our children approach elementary school.

I will be in 5th grade on the English side of the Companeros (sp?) program at Greenvale Park Elementary. That means for half the day the students will be taught in only Spanish- Math, Science, Social Studies. And for the other half of the day they will be with me for Language Arts and Reading. There are 2 sections, so it's like teaching 2 different classes everyday. I'm very excited for multiple reasons. First, I've always wanted to teach the upper elementary grades. Second, I will only need to focus on LA and Reading, rather than all five subjects. Finally, this is the school where our children will start in one year and within one mile from our home.

It would be ideal if it was a part time position or if it was one year later, but we are trying to make choices that will be for our family's benefit in the long term. I've been open about my feelings about keeping the kids out of day care on this blog, and we are now at a place where we need to make some big decisions and really quickly. I received the good news last night around 7pm and I had to report to a teacher's workshop this morning at 8am, so we've been scrambling to get coverage for the children. I will officially report for the school year on the 25th, so that gives us one week to get it figured out.
We are praying about the best child care options. We fully believe that God has lead us to this place and that He will continue to provide and lead us through the next 2 weeks. Currently, we are looking at getting a Nanny for the children, but other options are still out there and we are looking into them. We only need someone for 3 days, Brenton will be here the other 2 days. Please keep us in your prayers because we sure do need them.
