A Happy Mother's Day!

It seems to me that the blog world I have myself in has been quiet lately. Maybe no one has anything to say, or maybe life is just too busy. I struggled myself to think of something to say today, but I realized I did not touch on a day that I appreciate more than my birthday- Mother's Day.

I had a great Mother's Day. I went to church with my family, then was able to spend time with my mom for lunch, and then a relaxing afternoon with my kids and husband reading a book and playing, and finally topped off with friends, pizza, and some tear jerking Extreme Home Makeover- I love that show!

I really love Mother's Day. Maybe it's because it's like my special day at work. I don't get promotions, raises, or career advancement to look forward to so I see this one day as a day to celebrate what I get to do every other day- be a mom! It's weird because we didn't have a big party, or huge celebration, it was just really nice to be recognized by my kids and husband that what I do is important, valuable, and appreciated.

I think as mom's we forget the huge role we play in the development of our kids. I have been reading Bringing up Boys, by James Dobson again and the statistics and studies done on children and the impact the mother has on her children are so amazing and interesting. Check it out if you have a boy- it's well worth the time to read it!

Our pastor spoke on being a Proverbs 31 woman/ mother this Sunday it was very good. The charateristics of this woman are definately something we all should strive for. Not to be perfect, but to be conscience of our words, action, and behaviors, so that we can continue to be more like Christ.

So, Happy belated Mother's Day to everyone who is a mother. I hope you had a day filled with love and appreciation for all you do!

  1. Babe, I had a wonderful day as well.

It was great to just hang out with you too and spend the day being a family. I am blessed to experience firsthand what an amazing wife, mother and woman you are. I know that I don't say or show enough how much I appreciate you.

Your love and laughter delight the heart of God and enrich the lives of our children. I leave for work each day knowing that our kids have a mother who will lavish love and fun on them. You play with them, read to them, watch movies together, wrestle and laugh, and go outside.

More importantly though, you model Jesus to them. Because of you our kids have learned to pray and thank Jesus. Because of you they dance to praise songs and know values such as compassion and generosity. Because of you they see laughter and joy daily.

Happy Mother's Day Stephanie. I love you.

  3. I think I got left out of a story somewhere....JB....don't bother explaining I probably wouldn't get it anyway all my clocks flash 12...

Steph I am so shocked at you! Have I taught you nothing.....nothing is more important than your birthday! Birthday's are national holidays...in fact I think they are international holidays. Mother's Day is well is ok but nothing like your birthday...people do not sing for you on mother's day...you see dad having to remind the kids on mother's day...not so on birthday's because I DO THE REMINDING!

Well, anyway, happy mother's day eve eve but more importantly HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE!!!!

    Love, Grammy
