"I don't even know what I'd do by myself" and other lame excuses

This is from the Reston Baby blog- A great reminder to all stay at home moms (and dads). Thanks Ainsley!

Being a good mom sometimes means saying no to your kids and yes to yourself. You're not being selfish, you're actually helping them. When I'm spent emotionally, physically and mentally, my kids pay for it. The best thing I can do is take an hour, head out on my own - even if I don't know what I'm doing yet. Not having a sitter, the energy, or the time (I've used them all) are no excuse for letting yourself become a frazzled disastrous nutcase.

If you take care of yourself, you'll take better care of of your children. And that, as Martha would say, is a good thing.

  1. So true! You must take care of yourself too!!

Hey Steph - Could you get me Carrie's info while in Guatemala? I think we will actually probably get to hookup with her while she is there. It's looking like we won't see Guatemala now until the new year! :(

  2. I'm sure you can relate 3X more then me but on Saturday Jon took Adelyn out Christmas shopping while I was at a cookie exchange and when I came home to a quite house it was amazing! I can't believe how much you can get done when you don't have to smile and entertain a babe at the same time! I agree that its important to take care of yourself and good bonding for dad and baby to let them play unsupervised :)

PS-Happy Birthday Izzy! She is so big and SO cute!
