Ok, so I know this is my 3rd post today. I sometimes get on a role and can't stop. Especially when my husband has already cleaned the house and all the kids are sleeping (Heavenly)!
I heard something on the radio that I really liked. When the lady was asked, "Why do we give gifts at Christmas"? This was her reply...
Christmas is the time of giving gifts to remind ourselves and others of the greatest gift that God gave to us. He gave the gift of his son, to die on the cross so that we may live.
Maybe the theology is not right on why we do gifts, but it challenged me to think of a creative way to share the love of Jesus this holiday season with the ones I love and do get gifts for. How can I express that I am giving a gift in the rememberence of the gift I was given. And although it's just a material thing it represents so much more.
I think that is a great way to share Christ with your kids! We used to put a wrapped present under the tree from Jesus. After the first year, we all knew it was empty and what it represented, but we still listened to my parents describe the gift of salvation to us.
