Fat chic update week 2
I've gotten a little discouraged already!!!!! I only lost 1 pound last week. I worked out 5 times, and I thought I was eating less and healthier. Most of the day I feel like I could eat my arm off. New Year's Eve we had a party and I did some unhealthy eating, but that was only one day. We Fondued so I tried to only have a couple pieces of each thing. I have although resisted pizza, chicken nuggets, cookies, candy, and over eating. What's the deal- I'm frustrated and it's only been 2 weeks. Can I really do this for the rest of my life????

I'm not a health expert or anything, but keep in mind that muscle weighs more than body fat - so if you are working out all the time and eating healthy you are probably converting body fat into muscle which when you step on the scales isn't as satisfying but it's still healthy.
ReplyDeletePlus, you don't want to lose a lot of weight quickly - from what I hear if you lose weight really fast (like all those get skinny quick ads on t.v.) it's much harder to keep the weight off - losing it slowly allows your body to adjust and you'll be able to maintain your new weight better.
Hope that helps you feel less discouraged.
I know that numbers are the easiest way to track weight loss but anon. above is right. Muscle weighs more than fat and muscle burns fat even when you are at rest. Keep up the good work Steph! You are doing great!
ReplyDeleteSorry we missed the New Year's party. We miss you guys!
Keep going! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteSteph just keep going. Don't focus on the number. Like the first person says muscle weighs more than fat. I had the same thing happen to me. I was so frustrated but I took my measurements and I lost inches insted of pounds and was toning up. You are doing a great job, I am proud of you!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember to drink lots of water, it will help in the weight loss process. Also remember that healthy weight loss is about 2 pounds a week!
ReplyDeleteMake sure your eating enough, sometimes you don't loose weight because you aren't eating enough. The idea is that you are working out, burning up more and eating less, so what comes in your body wants to hold on to. One pound a week is still awesome! Eating protein before you work out--like lean lunch meat can help boost your metabolism. .
ReplyDeleteKeep going! You'll feel better and better each day. Don't worry about "how many pounds" - it's better to lose weight slowly.
ReplyDeletedo you know how many people would LOVE to have lost 1 lb over the holidays, instead of gaining 8-10 (the national avg)? When you compare yourself to the national avg over the last week, you are ahead by 9-11 lbs!!! Way to go!!!
ReplyDeleteWhether it is one pound or five pounds, 20 minutes at the gym or an hour, I am impressed babe. Your dedication and hard work will pay off; all areas of your wife will improve as you build an attitude of discipline and determination into your days. Keep up the good work and stay encouraged. I love you!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about it! Losing one pound is fantastic! That is 3,500 calories you managed to do away with during the holidays, which we all know is no small feat. Plus, you have to remember that you are going from 0 to 60 on the exercise. I always found that when I began exercising after a prolonged break I wouldn't lose the weight I thought I should be losing right away. In fact, there were weeks I actually gained weight even though I knew I had done well. But then I would have a week where four pounds would disappear and then the cycle would start over. But it evened out to about 1 pound lost per week, over the course of a month. Keep eating right and exercising--it is good for your overall health even if the scale doesn't show you the numbers you are looking for at the moment. It will happen in its own time!
ReplyDelete:)
Keep in mind what you're trying to achieve; if you have a clear picture of how you want to be it's easier to get there.
ReplyDeleteI posted some new year resolutions advice on my blog - take a look maybe if you get a moment...
Have a great 2007,
Julius
