He did it again! God showed up! I wish I could make this up, because it's awesome, but then I wouldn't be able to give all the credit to God. If you read my journal entry in the post below, you can tell that I have been frustrated and disappointed with the lack of finding God. As soon as I finished journaling, I got out my Devotional- David, 90 days with a Heart like his. The entire study was about David's response to the pressures of life (you can read the whole thing if you click on the link on the link above). I can't and don't want to type up the whole devotional, so I will gift you the cliff notes if you don't mind. Beth Moore, in an amazing way as usual, breaks down the passage from 1 Samuel 27:1-12. Basically, David has given into the lies of Satan and feels that God is far away and hidden. If you read Psalm 10 it describes David's thoughts at the time. She emphasizes verse 2 of Psalm 10 stating this,
"David characterizes his enemy as arrogant and himself as weak: In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak. At this point David serves as an example of what happens when we focus more on our battles than God. Our enemy appears bigger, we appear weaker, and our God appears smaller. Beware! Long-term battle can cause impairment if eyes focus anywhere but up!"
Maybe I am making no sense in the blog entry, but the silence has been broken!! I am filled with greatfulness at the answered prayer. I could dance, sing, and praise him- for HE is GOOD! How could I not report that the Lord has revealed himself to me and heard my cries. It was the exact devotional I needed at the exact time... how cool is that!!!
Praise Him, Steph, that is so awesome. He is so good and FAITHFUL to us.
ReplyDeleteGod is awesome! And that David study/devotional rocks. I'm doing it too.=)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Steph because I have been in a similar place lately and this has encouraged me to not give up on spending time seeking God and to look to him in my stress, fear, and anxiety. Thanks for sharing God has revealed himself to me too...through you today!
