Perspective

"Sometimes I look at other people and their lives and everything they've accomplished- And I haven't- And then I look at one of my kids and know that not a single day has been wasted. And what's important are all the days still to come." -Sally Field on Brothers and Sisters
This is something I think about all the time. Many people that I graduated with have gone on to get their Master's degree or they are climbing the corporate ladder. There are some that are surgeons, doctors, lawyers, and cancer researchers. It is not right for me to compare myself, but how do I not- I am still knee deep in laundry, wiping bottoms, and teaching the ABCs daily. I really struggle to know how I've made a difference in this world? Then I realize the fruit of my labor may not be seen for years, so for now I need to believe and hold onto that what I am doing is very important and not a day of my life is wasted.

  1. Stephanie, I'm a friend of Steph Sorbel & have commented on your blog a few times. I've read your past couple of posts and have felt an overwhelming peace... other moms feel like I do. Whew! I thought I was the only one. And I thought I was such a bad mom to feel that way, even though I know that is not true. Over the holidays my cousin (a mom of eight under 11) recommending the following book, Real Moms Real Jesus and though I haven't read it (but plan to very soon) I thought I would pass on the suggestion to you. Sounds like something we could use right now. Here is the link to the book on Amazon but I think it's also available at Barnes...http://www.amazon.com/dp/0802483615/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=3286613237&ref=pd_sl_2953y6aaz4_b#noop
Let me know if you read it and what you think. Praying for you today. Your sister in Christ & fellow SAHM, Natalie Eve

  2. And just think, maybe one of your children will grow up to be the doctor who finds the cure for cancer, or the lawyer who overturns Roe v. Wade, or who knows what else. They are your legacy! You are doing a great job!
