Thankful Monday

I know Thankful Monday doesn't rhyme, but in honor of Thanksgiving this week, I want to make a point to talk of the things I am thankful for. There really are so many options in my mind right now. I think I will start with my thankfulness for our Nanny Angie. She comes to mind especially today becuase she lovingly and willing stayed with the kids today even after Andrew threw up on her.

We believe strongly that God answered our prayer with bringing Angie to our home. When I was offered the teaching job, the only thing that ran through my mind was, what about the kids? Brenton and I really didn't want to go through the intense search of finding a home daycare with only a week until I started school. We both ideally wanted someone to come to the house and engage and love the kids. Part of me was very fearful and doubtful that we would never find someone in time and that we would have to settle for just an ok place, and I would be stressing all day at work. We continued to pray about it, very few other things entered my mind that week, and in God-fashion, not a minute early or a minute late, He brought us Angie.

The kids refer to her as Miss Angie (and she is married) and they love her to pieces. It was a rocky start, but each morning they wake up and ask, "Is it a Miss Angie day!?" I truly believe she loves the kids. She comes with art projects to do, cooking activities, and other fun things. She is so joyful when she is here and sets good boundaries with them. She encourages them to try new things and gives them the space and opportunity to learn, even if they don't get it the first time.
I feel so comfortable with her here that I don't worry about them while I am at work. In fact, I worry more about her than I do them. When I come home from work they are all engaged in some sort of activity and its usually very quiet with light music on in the background (I need her to give me a lesson on that). Angie is an extremely gifted elementary art teacher in Northfield that is taking the year off to be home with her new baby Eli. She comes in the morning with the little guy and they all play together. She comes 3 days a week, and then Brenton is home for the other 2. I really could not have drawn up the situation any better.

So, Angie, if you are reading this- THANK YOU for all you do for our 3 little treasures. They love you and Eli and we are so thankful that you love them too! Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Angie sounds awesome, what an answer to prayer! God is good to the Balvins. You often times have stressful situations arise but 9 times out of 10, something amazing happens and disaster is averted! Love you guys!
